I like regenerative medicine, which activates the natural ability to regenerate parts of the body that have been injured by overuse, trauma, or infection. One of my favourite modalities of regenerative medicine is Ozone Therapy.

Ozone therapy has several actions, including the activation and balancing of your chemistry of healing. Perhaps you have heard of “cytokines”. The origin of the word is from the Greek, “Cyto” is for cells and “kine” for movement. Cytokines are released when there is trauma or infection to balance your healing responses.

Unfortunately, in cases of trauma and infection, the production and actions of the cytokines can be imbalanced. Ozone therapy, which uses energized medical-grade oxygen, supports the balance and proper functioning of the cytokines.

I first learned about Ozone Microdosing at an ozone training seminar hosted by Dr. Frank Shallenberger in 2004. Dr. Shallenberger commented that a nurse who had attended one of his seminars was unable to legally treat patients with the usual deep injections of anesthetic and large volumes (5 to 15 millilitres) of ozone. She had adapted and was injecting small amounts of ozone just under the skin in areas of the body in need of healing support.

When I returned to my office in 2004 I started to treat my patients with the usual joint injections of the anesthetic Procaine with Vitamin B 12, followed by the ozone gas. One patient reacted to the deep injection. It was not a serious reaction but it motivated me to consider another style of injecting ozone. Interestingly no patient since 2004 has reacted to a deep ozone injection the same way. However, with that patient I started to treat her with small amounts of superficial ozone injections. Therefore the name Microdosing. It worked very well. So well that I have used it on more delicate areas of the body than just the large joints of the body.

Here is an interesting case. A few years ago, my dentist referred a patient to me. The patient had just had a dental restoration replaced in the front lower left of their mouth. It was an unremarkable treatment, except the freezing did not resolve. The patient’s end third of their tongue remained frozen.

On your face, on the outside of your mouth, are dental reflex points. I am familiar with these since we used them as measurement points with the Computer Regulation Thermography testing I did with patients from 1998 to 2002. I injected microdoses of ozone, energized oxygen, into the dental reflex points with this patient. Within the first three microdosing treatments, they started to regain feeling in their tongue. By the final treatment, they had fully regained sensation and use of their tongue.

To understand this case, it is important to know that exquisitely irritated nerves may swell to as much as three times their normal diameter. Ozone therapy, by energizing and balancing the cytokines, balances healing, and swollen nerves heal and return to their normal size.

I have used ozone microdosing treatments to resolve infections and traumatic insults all over the body. It remains one of my favourite treatment modalities.
